At Billesley we encourage our children to read as often as possible because we know that regular reading is the gateway to a better life. Children who read every day, do better at school than children who do not. That is a fact.
Reading at home is a fantastic way for children to learn new words and to improve their vocabulary and speech. Regular reading also helps children to learn about themselves, the world and their place in it.
One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is our time; time spent together reading and sharing a good book.
Don't forget that you can record any reading in the reading diary, not just the books that we provide. We just love to know that the children are reading.
Here are some photographs of children who have been celebrated by their teachers for having lots and lots and LOTS of entries in their home reading diary. These children make us very proud indeed.
