The Red Tree Fund was established in the summer of 2017 in loving memory of Teaching Assistant Alex Keogh. Its core mission is to support and safeguard the mental health and wellbeing of all children at Billesley Primary School by promoting proactive approaches to positive mental health.

Since its formation, the charity has gone from strength to strength, exceeding its original fundraising target of £30,000 within its first two years. This remarkable achievement has been made possible through the dedication and enthusiasm of the entire school community. A wide range of events have contributed to this success, including Christmas and summer fairs, school discos, and staff talent shows. Notably, staff members have taken on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon in both 2019 and 2024, raising over £9,000.

Staying true to its mission, all funds raised have been invested directly into initiatives that support pupils’ wellbeing. These include the development of safe and nurturing spaces within the school, where children can regulate their emotions and access pastoral support when needed. Enhancements to the school grounds have encouraged physical activity, while educational visits have been subsidised to ensure all pupils can benefit from enriching experiences.

The Red Tree Fund continues to play a vital role in ensuring that the mental health and wellbeing of every child remains at the heart of school life, and with your ongoing support, we look forward to continuing this important work for many years to come.
